Once again, Summit High School’s Theater Program presents an outstanding performance.

This year’s musical, Footloose, tells a tale of unity, freedom, and healing. In order to truly heal from grief, Footloose expresses, one must accept, move on, and allow themselves to be happy.

An emotional, dynamic production, each line is delivered perfectly, each number is sung flawlessly, and the choreography of each scene and dance is energetic yet effortless. It is clear much practice went into each number, resulting in the impeccable, cohesive performance onstage.

Compelling and emotional, leads Donald Grennon (as Ren MacCormack) and Anna Sullivan (as Ariel Moore) delivered a perfect performance. Of course, they were backed by an incredible cast and crew, such as Lissette Green as Rusty and Jake Model as Willard. Every actor and actress gave it their all onstage, frequently eliciting genuine reactions from the audience: laughs, excitement, dread, and even tears. Matt Hecker did a fantastic job as Chuck Cranston, portraying the toxic, disrespectful character with effortlessness and ease.

The pit’s band members were fantastic: the music accompanying each song and incredible vocalist was on tempo and moving. They deserve much acclaim!

Commendations to the costume and makeup crew for fantastic costumes, to the stage crew for putting together an incredible set, and to lights and sound for a near flawless production.

A stunning production overall, Summit High School directed by Mrs. Anne Poyner (Director of Speech and Debate and Theater) did not disappoint. I’m truly thrilled to see what next year’s productions have in store!
