New to Summit, on 12 Kent Place Boulevard by Salon Decorum, stands Opulent Obsessions. It’s not difficult to say that this luxury clothing boutique is one of the most unique and beautifully decorated shops in town.

The inside of the boutique looks and smells like the inside of a dollhouse – quaint, pink, and inviting. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, making you feel right at home as you shop.

Buy one-of-a-kind products at Opulent Obsessions. Their tie-dye clothing by TYDE is handmade, all-natural, and every time you buy one, a portion of the sale is donated to a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the ocean. Another amazing brand they support is Maridruna – cozy sweaters handknit by grandmothers in Serbia who wouldn’t have work without this brand. In the future, the boutique will also sell vintage designer handbags, so stay tuned!

The clothing they sell is of the utmost quality, fits well, and lasts long, so you’re getting your money’s worth.

The moisturizing coconut lotion sold is one that the owner, Darcy, has been using since she was thirteen years old. Their candle line is also all-natural and handmade. Every product at Opulent Obsessions is tried and personally vetted by the staff, so your skin is in safe hands.

Opulent Obsessions is woman-run, co-owned by Darcy and Jessica. Darcy, the owner Liza and I spoke to, was born and raised right around the corner in Springfield. She loves Summit, our strong sense of community, and enjoys spending time in our animated and lively downtown. Reminiscing about the movie theatre that used to be downtown and Scotti’s Record Shop, it’s clear that she’s very connected to our community. Establishing Opulent Obsessions in Summit was her dream, and she says that she was extremely lucky to be able to make that dream a reality.

When asked about her business philosophy, Darcy says that the most important thing to do is to follow your dreams. Start a business based on what you’re passionate about, because only passion can keep you striving for success. You will fail at times, but it’s crucial to keep persevering in the face of that failure. Her aunt often said: “Good, better, best – Never let them rest, until your good is better and your better is best.” Darcy lives by that.

Darcy runs another boutique in Madison called Opulent Habits, offering authentic and luxury designer handbags and accessories. While Opulent Obsessions is not a consignment store, you can drop off your Opulent Habits consignment pieces at the Opulent Obsessions location if it’s more convenient.

Worried about catching the virus? Don’t be. Not only is the staff extremely sanitary, but they also allow you to reserve private shopping appointments where you have the whole store to yourself for an hour.

Opulent Obsessions was meant to open April 1st, but the pandemic stalled their opening significantly. Fortunately, Opulent Obsessions is now open and ready for business, with cute and quality pieces for every age and for every event. Support a local business; make sure to stop by Opulent Obsessions to explore these novel, luxury items!
