Cinco De Mayo: Elderflower Margarita

IMG_2980.JPG

It’s Cinco de Mayo! Time to celebrate the best way I know how – mixing drinks of course!

I decided to go the untraditional route this year, and whip up something new… so let me introduce to you the Elderflower Margarita!

I absolutely love Elderflower. With such a deep flavor profile it’s hard not to be drawn to its sweetness and earthiness. To make sure everyone can enjoy this delicious beverage I made both a regular version and a mocktail version!

Check below for both recipes, and videos to go with each!

Traditional:

Ingredients:

  • Coarse salt

  • 1.5 oz silver tequila

  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur

  • 1/2 oz Cointreau

  • 2 oz lime juice

  • 0.5 oz simple syrup

  • 1 orange

Steps:

  • Slice an orange wedge and rim your rocks glass

  • Dip the rim in coarse salt and then add ice to your glass

  • In a shaker with ice, combine tequila, elderflower liqueur, Cointreau, lime juice, simple syrup, and a squeeze of fresh orange juice

  • Shake well and strain over ice into your glass

  • Garnish with an orange wheel on the side of the glass and a little flower on top if you have one!

Mocktail:
