Business Spotlight: Yellow House Books
It’s no secret that I am a total bookworm. I mean, for goodness sake, I run a whole blog where I make drink and book pairings!
One thing that Liza and I have loved most about our time in the Berkshires is discovering all of the amazing local book stores. Amazon has harmed the book industry – not to mention the global pandemic has pushed so many people towards Kindles or E-Books – and so many mom-and-pop shops are struggling to survive. To me there is nothing better than a real book that I can hold in my hand. We all spend our lives on our screens these days, and picking up a book gives us the opportunity to disconnect from the world for a little while. Sure we can “visit” new worlds via our favorite TV shows and movies, but then we are still just staring at a screen!
I’m looking forward to highlighting and giving you an inside look at all of the special little book shops scattered around the Berkshires, but I figured I would start with the first one that Liza and I went to! Right in the heart of our home town, Great Barrington, stands this adorable yellow house that is part-bookstore and part-consignment shop!
I swear this hip bookstore seems straight out of a Hallmark movie - stacks and stacks of both new and used books, complete with vintage classics and a shop cat that craves attention from any and all visitors! Liza picked up some new poetry books and a first edition classic. Our visit was a total win, and we can’t wait to go back!
