Magical Moments: Umpachene Falls, New Marlborough

If you’re in search of a magical moment, then this is the place to go. I’m kicking off a series of magical moments in the Berkshires… little moments and places that just bring joy and peace. Umpachene Falls is most definitely the inspiration for such a series, and if you’ve been there before, you know why.

Situated right in New Marlborough, the falls are right in their own park - right along the Umpachene River, flowing into the Konkapot River. The first time I visited was with my family and our friends from the area. There were families climbing along the falls, kids swimming in the pools and river - it was just so much fun. 0 cell service really sparks genuine communication and interactions with the people around you.

Mom and I went ahead and sat to enjoy the view from above, while the rest of the pack was either swimming or climbing up even higher… there was even a frog rescue involved!

The most magical moment of all though - when a gorgeous Monarch butterfly landed right beside me. Butterflies are my absolute favorite, and they symbolize change, hope, and the courage to follow your dreams. Staying still, it allowed me to get close to it and capture it right in its natural light - as if it was posing just for me.

An unforgettable moment in an unforgettable place… if you’re in the Berkshires and find yourself looking for a place to disconnect and just take in the beauty around you - this is it :)
