Screen on the Green in Summit, NJ

Every summer, I put on my sneakers and grab my beach towel with one clear destination in mind: Summit’s downtown. Since I was just a little kid, I remember getting so excited for “Screen on the Green” - a cheesy movie and some of McCool’s ice cream was the perfect way to spend an evening back then, and absolutely nothing has changed!

Even now, my friends and I (who are all seventeen and eighteen) find so much joy in watching Pixar and Disney movies with huge bowls of popcorn while sitting on blankets - which is why we 100% plan on being at as many of this month’s upcoming movies as possible (check out the schedule on the right).

A few ideas on how to really make a night of it:

  • Grab dinner to-go from one of Summit’s many amazing local businesses - BarBacoa and The Greek Grill both have really great food and a lot of it is packaged in a way that makes outdoor dining super easy (plus, BarB has cocktails-to-go, for any parents getting dragged along!).

  • Bubble tea has never been so accessible in Summit! From MochiNut to our brand-new Kung Fu Tea, grab a large to-go and sip it alongside the movie.

  • Stop by Sweet Nothings to grab candy and snacks for your movie-viewing adventure!
